Frequently Asked Questions
What is supported accommodation?
What is supported accommodation? Supported accommodation provides a safe and stable place to live alongside access to regular support. At INTU Housing Solutions, we work with residents to help them develop confidence, manage their accommodation and build the skills needed for greater independence.
What support will I receive? Each resident receives outcome-based support tailored to their individual needs. This can include help with independent living skills, managing accommodation, accessing health services, budgeting, community involvement, education, employment and wellbeing. Residents typically receive a weekly support session alongside a wellbeing check.
Will I have my own room? Our properties generally provide residents with their own room, with access to shared communal facilities such as kitchens, bathrooms and living areas. The exact accommodation available will depend on the property and your individual circumstances.
How does INTU help me become more independent? Our aim is to support residents to do more for themselves over time. Support workers work with you to identify goals, develop practical skills and recognise progress. This could include learning how to manage money, cook meals, maintain your room, attend appointments, access services or become more involved in your local community.
Do I have to pay a service charge? Residents may be required to pay a service charge in accordance with their occupancy agreement. Your support worker or housing team can explain what your service charge covers and how much you are expected to pay.
How do I pay my service charge? We will provide you with clear information about how and when your service charge should be paid. If you are unsure about your payments or are experiencing difficulties, speak to your support worker or the housing management team as soon as possible so we can discuss the situation with you.
What does my service charge pay for? Depending on your accommodation and agreement, the service charge may contribute towards services provided within the property, such as communal area cleaning, maintenance of shared spaces and other services connected with the accommodation. You will be given information about the charges applicable to your property.
Who cleans the communal areas? We arrange regular cleaning of communal areas to help maintain a clean, comfortable and welcoming shared environment. Residents are also encouraged to take responsibility for their own room and contribute to keeping shared areas tidy.
Can I get help with food? Where available, INTU may provide or signpost residents to food parcels and local food support for those experiencing financial difficulty. Your support worker can also help you explore longer-term options for managing your food budget and accessing appropriate community resources.
What happens if I have a problem with my accommodation? Tell your support worker or report the issue through the appropriate housing management process. We aim to ensure properties are safe, well maintained and suitable for residents, and maintenance issues are reported promptly.
Your home. Your goals. Your progress. At INTU Housing Solutions, we understand that everyone’s journey is different. Our role is to provide a safe home, practical support and opportunities that help you build confidence and work towards greater independence. From managing your accommodation to cooking a meal, accessing your community or simply having someone to talk to, we're here to support your next steps.
